LOOKING FOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS
April 10, 2026
Glacier Fire & Rescue will be submitting a proposal to the voters within the district in the August Primary and Special Election to increase the real property tax levy. The levy will be an increase of Forty-Nine Cents ($0.49) per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The levy rate for Glacier Fire & Rescue is currently the lowest of all fire districts in Whatcom County. This increase will allow the district to keep up with increasing costs in order to maintain fire station facilities, replace aging apparatus, fire and medical equipment, as well as to train and retain volunteers and provide a consistent level of fire and emergency medical service to the residents.
Per RCW 29A.32.280, the district is required to solicit for committees that will provide “for” and “against” statements to the proposal that will be included in the voters’ pamphlet. A ‘for” committee has been established with 3 members. If you would like to be on the “against “committee and provide a statement, please contact Glacier Fire & Rescue at admin@glacierfire.org and resources will be provided.
Glacier Fire and Rescue volunteers put in so much work, honored to be part of the same team.

Thanks for the decades of leadership Chief; Happy trails!
The vast majority of Americans live in places that don’t have a single firefighter on the payroll. “The Call” is a portrait of the volunteer fire service that steps up to answer this critical need, told in the unique voice of an animator - Jonathan Wiess - who is also a volunteer firefighter.
